Amp Like Analog Overdrive

The Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive takes the original Dirty Boy Preamp concept and puts it into a compact pedalboard friendly format. Its fully analog design can cover clean boost, driven amp style overdrive, and saturated vintage flavored breakup while retaining the responsive feel that makes an overdrive fun to actually play. Instead of simply piling gain onto your signal, the circuit is designed to behave more like a driven amplifier, with harmonic saturation and dynamic cleanup that respond to your hands.

Variac Control For Sag And Compression

The Variac control is where things get particularly interesting. Turning it down simulates reduced voltage in the circuit, introducing sag and compression along with voltage starved fuzz textures. That gives you another dimension beyond simply setting the amount of gain. You can keep things relatively immediate and punchy or dial in a softer, spongier response with more vintage character.

Flexible Overdrive Preamp And Amp Simulator

Gain, Tone, Volume, and Variac controls make the Dirty Boy Jr. surprisingly flexible. Gain determines the amount of preamp drive and harmonic saturation, Tone adjusts high frequency presence and clarity, and Volume controls overall output. The pedal can serve as a conventional overdrive, an FX loop preamp, a tube style boost, or a standalone amp simulator.

Speaker Emulated Output For Direct Recording And Live Use

Two outputs substantially expand what this pedal can do. The Pre Output delivers the raw analog preamp signal without speaker emulation for connection to an amplifier, power amp, FX return, recording interface, or additional pedals. The Em Output provides a speaker emulated signal voiced after a closed back 4x12 Greenback cabinet, allowing direct connection to mixers, recording interfaces, PA systems, and other direct setups.
