Our Custom Setup

On all new and used instruments, our luthier performs a custom setup before it goes out for sale. What's a custom setup? In a nutshell, it's quality control and fine-tuning. You see, most guitar stores unbox the instrument, price it, and put it out for sale. A few tune it up first. Even fewer check something like intonation.

But nobody does what we do.

We run a fret rocker across the entire fretboard to check for high frets. We do a neck adjustment on the truss rod to make sure the relief is correct - not too flat, not bowed like a banana. We file the slots in the nut, adjust bridges, and optimize saddles. We perfect the intonation. We inspect for finish flaws, electronic issues, and playability. We do all the things that a full setup would include - a value of $50-$100, depending on the instrument - for free.
