Taylor Somos 150ce "Doce Doble" 12-string Natural with Gigbag

The Taylor Somos 150ce Doce Doble: A Bold New Voice for Regional Mexican Music

Taylor Doce Doble 12 String Acoustic Electric Guitar

Designed with the distinctive sound of regional Mexican and Central American music in mind, this is no ordinary 12 string. Its unison string configuration delivers the focused, energetic voice associated with the Doce Doble tradition, while Taylor's familiar dreadnought body shape provides a comfortable platform for an instrument with some serious sonic personality.

Torrefied Spruce Top and Sapele Back and Sides

The torrefied spruce top gives the Somos 150ce a lively, responsive character with excellent projection and clarity. Torrefaction enhances the wood's responsiveness, helping notes speak with immediacy and definition. Paired with sapele back and sides, the result is a warm, balanced voice with plenty of articulation. There's a satisfying richness to the lower register and a crisp presence in the highs that helps those doubled strings retain their individual character rather than becoming a wash of sound.

Mahogany Neck and Ebony Fingerboard

A great 12 string needs to feel as good as it sounds, and Taylor has given the Doce Doble a solid neo tropical mahogany neck with its comfortable Standard Carve profile. The Crelicam ebony fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface across all 20 frets. Whether you're working through driving rhythmic passages or intricate melodic lines, the familiar Taylor neck design makes navigating this distinctive instrument feel natural and inviting.

Taylor Expression System 2 Electronics

When it's time to plug in, Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics are ready to bring the Doce Doble's acoustic personality to the stage or studio. The behind the saddle pickup design captures the guitar's natural response with impressive clarity and dynamic sensitivity. Dedicated volume, bass and treble controls allow for convenient tonal adjustments, while the integrated phase switch helps manage feedback in amplified situations. It's a practical, musical system that lets the guitar's character remain the focus.

Natural Satin Finish and Taylor Craftsmanship

Finished in an understated Natural Satin, the Somos 150ce lets the beauty of its wood construction do the talking. Built in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, this guitar combines Taylor's modern craftsmanship with an instrument deeply connected to regional musical traditions. For players looking to explore the unmistakable voice of a Doce Doble without sacrificing familiar acoustic guitar ergonomics or convenient amplification, this is a compelling combination. A gig bag is included to keep your new guitar protected between sessions and performances.
