Authentic Analog Spring Reverb

This is not a digital approximation of a spring tank. The SurfyBear Compact uses JFET transistor technology and an actual Accutronics type 8 spring reverb pan to produce the physical interaction that makes spring reverb such an expressive effect. The circuit was developed around the specifications of the classic 6G15 style standalone reverb unit, delivering the splashy, drippy response that became inseparable from surf guitar.

Dual Mixer Controls for Two Reverb Sounds

The Compact gives you two independent Mixer settings, letting you establish two different balances between the dry and wet signals. A dedicated footswitch selects between Mixer 1 and Mixer 2 while the reverb is engaged, making it easy to move between two reverb levels without stopping to adjust a knob. Volume controls the reverb output, Tone shapes the wet signal, and Dwell determines how much signal is sent into the reverb pan.

Adjustable Decay and Classic Drip

Decay provides additional control over the length of the reverb tail. Rather than changing the physical decay characteristics of the spring pan, the SurfyBear Compact uses a soft knee gate circuit to shape the tail while allowing it to remain continuously open at maximum Decay. Combined with Dwell and Tone, that gives players a useful range of control over how the springs react and sit alongside the dry guitar signal.

Pedalboard Friendly True Bypass Reverb

An aluminum enclosure puts genuine spring reverb into a format designed with pedalboards and traveling musicians in mind. A dedicated Bypass footswitch engages or disengages the effect, with true bypass functionality keeping the signal intact when the reverb is switched off. The Beach Boys edition combines that practical format with a very limited tribute to Pet Sounds and the music that helped make spring reverb legendary.
