Paul Reed Smith HDRX 100 all tube Head

The PRS HDRX 100 Head: Legendary British Tube Tone Brought to Life

Classic British Tube Amplifier Tone

Inspired by the amplifier Jimi Hendrix used at Woodstock, this 100 watt tube head captures the power, responsiveness and unmistakable character of a classic British amplifier. It's an old school approach to tone with some thoughtful modern refinements, and the result is an amp that puts the relationship between your guitar, your hands and the speakers front and center.

Dynamic 100 Watt Tube Performance

With three JJ ECC803S preamp tubes and four New Sensor EL34EH power tubes, the HDRX 100 delivers the kind of dynamic response that made vintage British amplifiers legendary. Lighten your picking attack and the sound cleans up with clarity and chime. Dig in and the amp responds with muscular crunch, rich harmonics and plenty of authority. The custom Straight Edge output transformer is a key part of the design, while an updated power supply and filament system help keep unwanted hum and hiss under control.

Internally Bridged Channels and Vintage Style Controls

One of the coolest features of the HDRX 100 is its internally bridged channel design. Players used to connect the channels of vintage British amplifiers with an external cable to blend their different tonal personalities. PRS has built that functionality right into the amp. Independent Lead and Bass volume controls let you mix the brighter, more aggressive character of one channel with the fuller response of the other. It's a remarkably useful arrangement that encourages experimentation without complicating the signal path.

Three Band EQ and Flexible Tone Shaping

The familiar three band EQ provides Bass, Middle and Treble controls, while the Presence knob lets you adjust the upper harmonic response. A three position Bright switch and High Mid Gain switch provide additional ways to shape the amp's voice. Whether you're looking for sparkling cleans, thick rhythm crunch or singing lead tones, the HDRX 100 gives you the tools to find your sound without losing the immediacy of a classic tube amplifier.

PRS HDRX 100 Head in Black Tolex

Finished in Black Tolex, the HDRX 100 combines vintage inspired tone with a practical modern design. This is an amplifier for players who appreciate the expressive character of a powerful tube head and aren't afraid to let their playing dynamics do some of the work. From articulate clean passages to roaring overdrive, the HDRX 100 is all about letting the guitar speak. And with 100 watts on tap, it has plenty to say.
