Pre-Owned Universal Audio Woodrow

The Universal Audio Woodrow: Vintage Tweed Tone Without the Vintage Amp

Authentic 1950s Tweed Amplifier Sound

There's something magical about a great tweed amp pushed right to the edge. The way clean notes bloom into warm, harmonically rich overdrive, the wonderfully ragged growl when you really dig in, and that unmistakable compression that makes every note feel alive. The Universal Audio Woodrow '55 captures the character of a classic 1950s 1x12 tweed combo amplifier in a remarkably versatile pedal. From warm, touch sensitive cleans to thick, snarling overdrive, the Woodrow delivers vintage amplifier character without requiring you to crank an actual tube amp to room shaking levels.

Three Boost Modes for Classic Overdrive and Saturation

The Woodrow offers three distinct boost modes that take its vintage tweed foundation in different directions. Stock provides clean gain with a focused midrange and top end while keeping the bass tight as you turn things up. KP 3K brings additional brightness, clarity, and definition, while EP III adds thick, warm saturation with the coloration of a classic tape echo preamp. Whether you're chasing gritty blues, roots rock crunch, or singing lead tones, there's plenty of room to explore. Better still, the Woodrow responds to changes in your playing dynamics, letting you move between cleaner passages and aggressive breakup with your picking hand.

Speaker Cabinet Simulation and Dynamic Room Modeling

A convincing amplifier sound is about more than the amplifier circuit itself, and Universal Audio has paid particular attention to that fact. The Woodrow includes three speaker, cabinet, and microphone combinations that allow you to shape everything from the focused bite of a vintage combo to a more spacious, recorded amplifier sound. Universal Audio's Dynamic Room Modeling adds natural ambience and depth, with a dedicated Room control to dial in the desired amount. Three additional cabinet simulations are available through product registration, expanding the tonal possibilities even further.

Modern UAFX Controls and Flexible Performance Options

For all its vintage personality, the Woodrow is thoroughly modern where it counts. Bluetooth connectivity provides access to the UAFX app for additional editing and preset management, while USB MIDI support opens up expanded control options and access to 128 recallable presets with compatible firmware. Multiple footswitch modes offer flexibility for live performance, and the four cable mode allows the Woodrow to bypass an amplifier's preamp and feed its power section directly. It's a clever way to bring the sound and response of a classic tweed circuit into a contemporary guitar rig.
