Pre-Owned Universal Audio Ruby

The Universal Audio Ruby 63 Top Boost Amplifier Pedal: Classic British Chime and Crunch

Authentic British Tube Amp Tone

There is something undeniably magical about the sound of a great British tube amp pushed just to the edge of breakup. The Universal Audio Ruby 63 Top Boost Amplifier Pedal captures that unmistakable character in a pedalboard friendly format. Inspired by the legendary British amplifiers of the early 1960s, the Ruby delivers everything from sparkling, harmonically rich cleans to the snarling, vocal overdrive that helped define generations of guitar music. It is a remarkably versatile way to bring those classic sounds into a modern rig.

Three Classic Amplifier Voices

The Ruby offers three distinct amplifier configurations, giving players an impressive range of tones without requiring a collection of vintage amplifiers. The Brilliant channel provides the familiar chime, presence, and touch sensitivity associated with classic British amplification. The Normal channel delivers a warmer, rounder response, while the Vibrato channel adds another dimension of vintage character. Whether you are after articulate rhythm tones, crunchy chords, or singing lead sounds, the Ruby responds beautifully to changes in picking dynamics and guitar volume.

Speaker Cabinet and Microphone Modeling

A convincing amplifier sound involves more than just the amplifier itself, and Universal Audio has paid particular attention to the relationship between the amplifier, speaker cabinet, and microphone. The Ruby incorporates sophisticated speaker cabinet and microphone emulation to recreate the depth, dimension, and tonal complexity of a professionally recorded guitar amplifier. This makes it a compelling choice for direct recording, live performance, and players looking to achieve consistent amplifier tones without the challenges of traditional microphone placement.

Powerful Controls and Modern Connectivity

The Ruby combines familiar amplifier style controls with the flexibility of modern digital processing. Volume, Cut, and Output controls allow players to shape the response and character of their sound, while the Boost function provides additional drive when needed. Stereo operation and preset capabilities make it easy to integrate the pedal into more elaborate guitar rigs. The result is an amplifier simulator that feels immediately familiar to traditional guitarists while offering the convenience and versatility demanded by contemporary performance and recording environments.
