Andy Wood Signature Compressor Tone

Designed as a collaboration between Andy Wood and John Suhr, the Woodshed Comp can cover considerably more ground than its straightforward control layout might suggest. At one end it can provide the subtle compression and boost Andy favors, while more aggressive settings can deliver the tighter, heavily compressed response associated with chicken picking. The important part is that the initial attack remains something you can control rather than something compression simply removes.

Three Way Attack Control

The three position Attack switch gives you direct control over how much of the beginning of each note gets through before compression takes hold. Slower settings retain more transient information for a lively, immediate response, while faster settings smooth things out. Ratio, Threshold and Gain controls provide further adjustment, with enough range to work with everything from lower output single coils to powerful humbuckers.

Compressor and Clean Boost Pedal

There is plenty of headroom available here as well, making the Woodshed Comp useful when you want compression with additional clean level rather than an obviously squashed effect. That combination makes it equally comfortable as an always on tone shaping tool or as a more obvious compressor when the music calls for it.
