Pre-Owned Ibanez AR-1200 Double Neck Electric Guitar with Hard Shell Case
The AR-1200: Dual-Neck Powerhouse with Iconic Ibanez Craftsmanship
The Ibanez AR-1200, also known as the Artist Twin, is a rare and innovative double neck electric guitar introduced in 1979. Built in Japan during the golden era of Ibanez craftsmanship, this unique instrument features both six-string and twelve-string necks, allowing players to explore a wide tonal landscape. Its antique violin finish and classic Artist Series design make it a standout both visually and sonically.
Vintage Ibanez Double Neck Guitar with Timeless Aesthetics
Constructed from solid ash with a three-ply maple top, the AR-1200 exudes the high-quality feel and look associated with late-‘70s Ibanez guitars. The elegant Antique Violin (AV) finish gives it a warm, vintage-inspired appearance, while distinctive brass accents, including the iconic “cloud” tailpiece and truss rod cover, offer a refined visual appeal that complements its historic status.
Dual-Neck Versatility and Independent Controls
The AR-1200’s defining feature is its dual-neck design, combining both a standard 6-string and a shimmering 12-string neck. Each neck is equipped with its own set of volume and tone controls, Tri-Sound switches, and dedicated outputs. This configuration gives players full control over signal routing and tonal shaping. A neck selector switch makes transitioning between necks seamless and intuitive, ideal for live performance or studio layering.
Super 58 Pickups and Expanded Tonal Options
Each neck is fitted with a pair of Ibanez Super 58 humbuckers, known for their articulate, warm tone and dynamic responsiveness. Coupled with the Tri-Sound system, offering series, parallel, and coil-split modes, this guitar can produce a wide range of tones, from thick, vintage humbucker growl to single-coil clarity. It’s a tonal workhorse that excels across genres.
Condition and Playability
This guitar is in very good condition for its age and has undergone a full in-store professional inspection and setup. The neck is nice and straight, fits comfortably in the hand, and exhibits only minor fretwear. Cosmetically, there are signs of wear typical for a vintage instrument: a scratch on the 6-string neck between the 2nd and 3rd frets, a crack in the finish at the 12-string neck heel, dents on the lower bout (treble and bass side), and nicks on the headstock heel and top near the bridge plate. Additionally, the horn on the bass side has a chip, and there are several finish chips worn to the wood along with surface scratches on the top, back, headstocks and sides, all of which can be seen in the photos. Despite these cosmetic flaws, the guitar remains structurally solid and stage-ready.
