Pre-Owned Greedtone Overdrive with Box and Power Supply

The Greedtone Overdrive - Boutique Seattle Overdrive with Two Stage Gain Control and a Pearl Jam Connection

Handbuilt Greedtone Overdrive from Seattle

The Greedtone Overdrive is a boutique American overdrive pedal developed by Greg Williamson and built in Seattle, Washington. Designed to deliver the response and harmonic complexity of a driven tube amplifier, this distinctive two-button pedal offers everything from clean boost and natural breakup to aggressive, saturated drive. Its straightforward design emphasizes touch sensitivity, note definition, and the character of the instrument and amplifier.

Dynamic Gain with More and Less Footswitching

The Greedtone Overdrive features dedicated Volume and Gain controls alongside two footswitches. The first engages or bypasses the effect, while the second selects between More and Less drive settings. This arrangement provides convenient access to different levels of saturation without requiring additional controls. Lower gain settings preserve clarity and picking dynamics, while higher settings deliver thick, harmonically rich distortion suitable for rhythm and lead playing. With substantial output volume available, the pedal also excels at pushing an amplifier into natural overdrive.

Premium Components and Full Range Response

Designed to retain low-end definition and high-frequency detail, the Greedtone Overdrive uses carefully selected components to produce a full, articulate sound. Its gain circuit emphasizes harmonic content rather than simply clipping the signal, allowing chords to retain separation even at higher distortion settings. Built-in noise reduction helps control unwanted hiss, while true bypass switching preserves the unaffected signal when the effect is disengaged. The rugged die-cast aluminum enclosure reflects Greedtone's emphasis on durability and dependable performance.

Greedtone and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready

Greedtone has a notable connection to Seattle's music history through Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, whose equipment has included a Greedtone distortion pedal during the band's Riot Act era. The original Greedtone Overdrive is closely associated with the company's early designs and reflects the dynamic, amplifier-driven approach to guitar tone that helped establish the builder's reputation. For players interested in independent American pedal builders and the equipment associated with Seattle's rock scene, the Greedtone Overdrive offers a compelling piece of boutique effects history.
