1978 Fender Vibro Champ Vintage Tube Amp

This 1978 Vibro Champ comes from the silverface era and delivers the sparkling Fender character that helped turn what was once considered a modest practice amp into a sought after vintage amplifier.

Classic Fender Tube Tone and Natural Overdrive

At lower settings the Vibro Champ produces a clear, lively sound with plenty of sparkle, but turn up the volume and things get considerably more interesting. Natural tube distortion arrives without requiring enormous volume, giving the amp a wonderfully immediate response that makes it equally at home in a studio, rehearsal space or living room. There is a surprising amount of punch available from five watts and a single 8 inch speaker.

Warm Tube Tremolo

The onboard effect labeled vibrato is actually tremolo, and it is a big part of this amp's personality. Speed and intensity controls let you move from a gentle pulse to a much more pronounced effect. It is warm, organic and unmistakably evocative of the era. There is no reverb here, just a straightforward single channel tube amplifier with a great sounding modulation effect built right in.

Jensen Special Design Speaker and Updated Components

The original 8 inch Fender speaker has been replaced with an 8 inch Jensen Special Design speaker. A few capacitors have also been changed, and the original 2 prong power cable has been replaced with a 3 prong cable. No other modifications, repairs, replaced components or functional issues are known. The result is a vintage Vibro Champ that retains the simple character that made these little amplifiers so appealing in the first place.
