Pre-Owned Catalinbread Octapussy Tang

The Catalinbread Octapussy: Psychedelic Octave Fuzz with a Serious Bite

Classic Octave Fuzz with Modern Attitude

Inspired by the legendary octave fuzz sounds associated with Jimi Hendrix, this gloriously unruly little box delivers everything from snarling, harmonically rich fuzz to soaring octave overtones. It can be thick and muscular, sharp and cutting, or downright otherworldly. And that's where the fun begins.

Dynamic Octave Fuzz Tones

The Octapussy combines a custom voiced preamp with a circuit featuring three silicon transistors and two diodes. The result is an expressive fuzz with a distinctive upper octave character that responds to your playing. Single notes can take on a singing, almost vocal quality while chords become gritty, complex and wonderfully aggressive. There's plenty of room for experimentation, whether you're chasing classic psychedelic leads or creating strange new textures.

Gain, Body and Attenuation Controls

Three controls provide a surprising amount of tonal flexibility. Gain determines the intensity of the fuzz and brings out biting harmonics as it's increased. Body adjusts the bass response, letting you move from lean, focused sounds to thick, saturated textures. The Attenuation control manages overall output, making it possible to explore the more aggressive side of the Octapussy without relying on excessive volume. It's an inviting setup that rewards experimentation rather than endless knob twisting.

Distinctive Tang Finish and Pre-Owned Condition

This example wears the striking Tang finish and retains its original factory configuration with no modifications. It shows light cosmetic wear consistent with regular use, all of which is documented in the photoset. Velcro has been applied to the bottom. The original box and manual are included, making this an appealing opportunity to pick up a characterful octave fuzz with its accompanying documentation.

A Fuzz Pedal for Adventurous Guitarists

From grinding power chords to shimmering octave leads and unusual harmonic textures, the Octapussy offers plenty of ways to take familiar guitar sounds somewhere unexpected. It can be aggressive without being one dimensional and expressive without becoming complicated. If your pedalboard could use a little more attitude and a healthy dose of psychedelic mischief, this Catalinbread is ready to oblige.
