Pre-Owned Catalinbread Adineko

The Catalinbread Adineko: Mysterious Oil Can Echo, Reverb and Vibrato

Vintage Oil Can Delay With a Sound All Its Own

Inspired by the wonderfully peculiar oil can delay units of the past, this pedal captures a dark, murky, beautifully wobbly sound that lives somewhere between echo, reverb and vibrato. It's atmospheric, a little unpredictable sounding, and absolutely loaded with character.

Classic Tel Ray Oil Can Echo Inspiration

The original oil can units were manufactured by Tel Ray, the company that would eventually become known as Morley. Unlike conventional tape or drum echoes, these devices used an electrostatic storage system with a spinning disk and a layer of oil to preserve and reproduce the signal. The results were distinctly different from other delays of the era, with a softer, darker repeat character and a musical vibrato tied to the rotation of the disk. The Adineko recreates that distinctive sonic experience without requiring an actual spinning, oil coated mechanism.

Echo, Reverb and Vibrato in One Effects Pedal

What makes the Adineko particularly compelling is how its effects seem to melt into one another. Rather than delivering pristine, perfectly defined repeats, it creates a hazy wash of sound with a gentle sense of movement. The echoes have a wonderfully murky quality, while the modulation gives everything an almost liquid feel. It's the sort of effect that can add an entirely different personality to a guitar part, whether you're looking for a subtle atmospheric texture or something considerably more mysterious.
