Pre-Owned Benson Delay

The Benson Delay: Vintage Echo Character to Modern Digital Delay

Vintage Inspired Digital Delay with Analog Warmth

he Benson Delay takes its inspiration from classic tape echoes and bucket brigade delays, delivering repeats that bloom, soften and gradually fall apart in a beautifully musical way. At its heart is a PT2399 digital delay chip paired with analog filtering, a compander and carefully considered gain staging. The result is a rich, textured echo that has far more personality than your average digital delay. There's plenty of warmth and depth here, but also enough clarity to keep things articulate when the repeats start piling up.

From Classic Slapback Echo to Expansive Ambient Delay

With delay times ranging from 30 to 1250 milliseconds, the Benson covers an impressive amount of sonic territory. Short settings deliver the tight, punchy slapback that's right at home with rockabilly and vintage country picking, while longer settings open the door to spacious rhythmic echoes and atmospheric washes. The repeats have a lovely organic quality, gradually losing definition as they decay rather than simply getting quieter. It's the sort of delay that can sit comfortably behind your playing or become an integral part of the sound itself. The Mix, Time and Feedback controls make dialing in everything from subtle ambience to cascading echoes refreshingly straightforward.

Expressive LFO Modulation and Three Waveform Options

Things get particularly interesting when you explore the Benson Delay's modulation section. Its adjustable LFO introduces movement and pitch variation to the repeats, ranging from gentle chorus textures and fluid vibrato to wonderfully unstable, warped echoes. Three selectable waveforms provide distinctly different flavors. Sine offers smooth, flowing movement, square introduces more abrupt changes and random creates unpredictable pitch fluctuations. It's a remarkably versatile palette that can turn an otherwise straightforward delay into something far more adventurous. Whether you're after the gentle wobble of an aging tape machine or a sprawling, slightly chaotic ambient texture, there's plenty to explore.

Tap Tempo Control and Infinite Self Oscillation

The dedicated tap tempo footswitch makes it easy to lock your echoes into the groove, with selectable quarter note, dotted eighth note and sixteenth note subdivisions for different rhythmic feels. But there's another trick hiding under that switch. Hold it down and the Benson enters self oscillation, sending the repeats into an increasingly dense and animated wash of sound. It's a fantastic creative tool for building transitions, adding dramatic textures or simply exploring the more unruly side of delay. There's something particularly satisfying about an effect that can move from tasteful accompaniment to complete sonic mayhem without losing its musical personality.

Pre Owned Benson Delay Condition and Included Accessories

This pre owned Benson Delay is in its original factory configuration with no modifications. It shows light cosmetic wear consistent with regular use, with all cosmetic wear documented in the photoset. The original box is included, but a power supply is not. For players looking for an expressive delay with the warmth of vintage echo, the precision of tap tempo and enough modulation possibilities to keep things interesting, the Benson is a compelling little box of inspiration.
