The 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Model AA864

Early Black Panel Fender Combo

This early 1965 Vibrolux Reverb is a well maintained example of the AA864 circuit with expected cosmetic wear for its age and very good overall condition. It delivers the responsive clean tones, smooth breakup, and wide dimensional sound associated with mid 60s Fender amplifiers.

Serviced and Updated for Use

A brand new JJ 12AX7 has been installed in the V1 position and the pots and jacks have been freshly cleaned. A service note dated 10 14 97 indicates Arcane Amps replaced the filter, bias, and coupling capacitors along with some resistors.

The amplifier has been updated with a grounded 3 prong IEC installation and the death cap has been removed. The rectifier tube clip has also been replaced.

Transformer and Production Details

The serial number aligns with early 1965 production and the chart code "OB" dates the amp to February 1965. The Schumacher power transformer is marked 606436 indicating 1964 36th week production.

The output transformer has been replaced with a ClassicTone 40 watt output transformer model 40 18006. The newest tone and bass potentiometers are Stackpole units from the 8th week of 1965 while the bias pot is a CTS unit from the 51st week of 1954.
