The Spaceman Sputnik I revives the original Sputnik circuit in a more compact format, now built around NOS silicon transistors for improved stability, increased gain headroom, and dramatically reduced temperature sensitivity. This edition delivers the warmth, textural character, and dynamic response fans of the original Sputnik expect while adding a more consistent silicon edge.

Versatile Controls and Sonic Flexibility

This Black Edition includes the full complement of controls: Range for gain and fuzz intensity, Calibrate for tone shaping, Level for output, plus a Scan mini control for fine modulation when Drift mode is engaged. Two toggle switches provide further tonal options: Filter engages an alternate voicing with bass cut and mid scoop, while Sync and Drift modes unlock harsher oscillations, octave artifacts, 8 bit textures and synth style chaos. True bypass switching ensures your signal remains pure when the pedal is off.

Compact Reliable Build Quality

Built entirely by hand in Portland, Oregon, the Sputnik I features hand wired, through hole construction in a rugged aluminum enclosure. The faceplate is laser engraved, the footswitch is a soft click true bypass model, and the compact footprint makes it board friendly. Powering is via 9 volt DC center negative adapter or internal 9 volt battery.

Tonal Character and Application

Expect fuzz tones ranging from smooth, vintage drive to wild, sputtering textures. With Drift mode engaged, the Sputnik I generates synth like oscillations, pseudo octaves, digital artifacts and expressive feedback, making it ideal for experimental, ambient and progressive fuzz applications.
