The MXR Rockman X100: Arena Rock Tone in Pedal Form
Classic 1980s Tone Revived
The MXR Rockman X100 Analog Tone Processor brings the legendary sound of the original 1982 Rockman X100 headphone amp to your pedalboard. Designed in collaboration with veteran engineer Bob Cedro, this stompbox faithfully recreates the iconic, polished tones of the 1980s arena rock era. From crystalline cleans to gritty distortion, and shimmering modulation, the Rockman X100 captures the magic of Tom Scholz's original design in a compact, user-friendly form.
Four Preset Modes for Endless Versatility
The Rockman X100 offers four distinct tonal presets, accessible via the MODE button:
- CLN2: Crystal-clear cleans with a high-power sustain.
- CLN1: Tight, punchy cleans with a mid-focused EQ.
- Edge: Moderate clipping, highly responsive to Input Gain adjustments, and cleans up beautifully with lower guitar volume.
- Distortion: High-energy overdrive with smooth, sustained lead tones.
These modes are enhanced by the pedal's carefully calibrated compression circuit, providing slow release on clean settings and fast release on dirty settings for optimal tonal clarity and sustain.
Classic Bucket-Brigade Chorus
Equipped with the original MN3007 bucket brigade chip, the Rockman X100 delivers lush, expansive chorusing at the push of a button. Perfect for adding shimmering depth and texture to your sound, this feature recreates the classic modulation that defined the sound of 1980s rock.
Customizable Controls and Advanced Features
Fine-tune your tone with dedicated Input Gain and Volume sliders, giving you precise control over your signal levels. For added functionality, connect an off-board switch like the MXR TRS Split + Tap to control the Mode switch with your foot. The stereo mode allows for separate left/right signal processing, adding dimension and space to your chorus effects for a truly dynamic sound.
Rugged Design for Any Setup
Built to withstand the demands of live performance, the MXR Rockman X100 features a durable enclosure that's pedalboard-ready. With its compact design and modern enhancements, this pedal is the ultimate tool for capturing the unmistakable tones and textures of the arena rock era.
