The Electronic Audio Experiments Limelight Overdrive: Articulate Drive with Dual Channel Versatility

Dynamic Overdrive Inspired by Modern Post Hardcore

Developed in collaboration with Los Angeles punk band Touché Amoré, the Electronic Audio Experiments Limelight Overdrive was originally created during the recording of the band's acclaimed 2020 album Lament. Designed around the bright, articulate guitar tones of Nick Steinhardt and Clayton Stevens, the Limelight effortlessly moves from shimmering clean passages to aggressive, saturated distortion while maintaining exceptional note definition.

Wide Range Overdrive with Independent Boost

Loosely inspired by classic breaker style circuits but significantly reworked, the Limelight offers superior articulation and a much broader gain range. The overdrive section delivers everything from low gain breakup to full bodied distortion, while an independent front end boost adds clean output for pushing an amplifier or driving the overdrive section into heavier saturation. Together, the two channels provide three highly usable gain stages from a single compact pedal.

Highly Flexible Tone Shaping

The Limelight features an intuitive control layout with Gain, Tone, Volume, Focus, and Boost controls that make it easy to dial in everything from crisp, chimey edge of breakup sounds to thick, focused high gain tones. The Focus control and corresponding toggle allow players to tailor the low frequency response and midrange presence, making the pedal equally comfortable handling articulate rhythm work, soaring lead lines, and everything in between.

Built for Performance

Version 2 incorporates an updated enclosure layout along with refinements to the circuit for lower noise operation and improved relay based true bypass switching. Designed for modern pedalboards, the Limelight operates from a standard regulated 9V DC center negative power supply and does not accept battery operation. Whether used as a transparent boost, a dynamic overdrive, or a stacked gain machine, the Limelight has earned its reputation as an incredibly versatile drive pedal across a wide range of musical styles.
