Fender Custom Shop EVH Frankenstein Replica Tribute Eddie Van Halen, Chip Ellis Masterbuilt - Limited Run with Original Flight Case - Setup by Tom Weber - 1/300

Fender Custom Shop EVH Frankenstein Replica Tribute: A Collector's Masterpiece

Enter the world of rock legend Eddie Van Halen with the Fender Custom Shop EVH Frankenstein Replica Tribute, a guitar that redefines the boundaries of musical history. In 2007, the collaboration between Eddie Van Halen and Fender's master builders led to the creation of the iconic EVH® brand, offering guitars and amps that are now revered by musicians worldwide. The pinnacle of this partnership was the limited edition run of 300 Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein™ replica guitars, a meticulous homage to one of the most recognizable electric guitars in the world.

Aged to Perfection: Every Scratch and Detail

This awe-inspiring guitar features the signature red, black, and white striped ash body, paired with a bolt-on maple neck. What sets this replica apart is the astounding aging process it underwent to faithfully recreate the wear and tear from Eddie Van Halen's explosive years on stage with the original Frankenstein guitar. Every scratch, ding, and even the iconic 1971 quarter placed under the tremolo bridge, mirroring the original, has been meticulously replicated. The guitar also boasts a Seymour Duncan® Custom Shop EVH humbucking pickup and a single master volume knob labeled "Tone" on a single-ply partial black pickguard, an exact match to the original.

Complete Authenticity: Tribute to a Rock Icon

The attention to detail doesn't stop there; this guitar is fitted with Schaller® tuners, aged chrome hardware, and comes with a limited edition fully "relic-ed" EVH road case. To ensure authenticity, even a non-functional three-way switch and single-coil pickup occupy two of the three pickup routs. The result is a phenomenally crafted piece of rock history, a guitar that rekindles the awe and excitement you felt the first time you witnessed the incredible musical power of Eddie Van Halen.

Limited Edition, Expert Craftsmanship

With only 300 of these guitars crafted worldwide, each one is a collector's dream. Created at the Fender Custom Shop factory by Chip Ellis Masterbuilt, who collaborated closely with Eddie Van Halen on the Frankenstein replica project, this guitar is a testament to the revolutionary impact of one man on the world of guitar playing. The EVH Frankenstein Replica Tribute not only replicates Eddie's iconic guitar but also captures the essence of his unparalleled contributions to music.

A Tribute to Precision and Passion

Back in 2007, Fender introduced the EVH brand with this ultra-limited Custom Shop recreation of Eddie Van Halen's iconic Frankenstein guitar; the original Frakenstrat was the first collaboration EVH/Fender debut offering to kickoff the newly established EVH brand.  Limited to just 300 pieces, each one was priced at an even $25,000, and all sold out within a remarkable 15 minutes. In an exclusive interview with Guitar World, Brian McDonald, the former marketing manager for Fender's Jackson, Charvel, and EVH brands, shared the fascinating story behind the creation of these replicas, including an anecdote about Eddie Van Halen mistaking one for his original Frankenstein.

The collaboration between Eddie Van Halen and Mike Eldred, the head of the Custom Shop, dates back to the days when Van Halen played in clubs on the Strip. The assigned builder for this project was Chip Ellis, who worked closely with Eddie and his guitar tech, Matt Bruck. The attention to detail was so precise that when Eddie played the final prototype, he couldn't believe it was a replica. To differentiate, he wrote "This is the shit" on the back of the neck with a Sharpie. This level of craftsmanship ensured that the guitar was not just approved by Eddie but was an absolute replica of the original, a testament to the Custom Shop's dedication and precision.
