Greco 1981 SE-500 Spacey Sound - Sunburst with Hard Shell Case

The 1981 Greco SE-500 Spacey Sound: Vintage Japanese Craftsmanship at Its Finest

A Super Real Era Masterpiece

Built during Greco's famed Super Real era (1980-1983), the 1981 Greco SE-500 Spacey Sound is a stunning example of Japanese craftsmanship at its peak. Manufactured at the FujiGen Gakki factory, these guitars were so well-made that they directly influenced Fender's decision to collaborate with FujiGen for the legendary JV Fender line. With hand-shaped construction and no CNC machines involved, this guitar delivers the feel and tone of a truly vintage Strat-style instrument.

Premium Sen Ash and Maple Construction

The SE-500 Spacey Sound features a Sen (Asian Ash) body, known for its resonant, bright, and dynamic tonal properties. The bolt-on maple neck, shaped in a comfortable C-profile, provides a smooth and familiar playing experience, while the maple fingerboard adds snap and clarity to every note. Finished in a poly clear gloss, this guitar retains its vintage aesthetic with enduring durability.

Classic Stratocaster Tones with Stock Single-Coil Pickups

Equipped with three stock single-coil pickups (31276), this SE-500 delivers articulate highs, glassy mids, and warm lows-a hallmark of classic Stratocaster tones. The 5-way switch allows for a versatile range of sounds, making it perfect for blues, rock, funk, and beyond. Original M250K potentiometers ensure smooth volume and tone control, maintaining the authenticity of this vintage masterpiece.

Vintage-Style Hardware for Period-Correct Playability

Staying true to its era, the Greco Deluxe vintage-style tuners, single-ply white pickguard, and Strat-style tremolo bridge provide both classic aesthetics and reliable tuning stability. Every detail, from the nickel hardware to the bone nut, is meticulously crafted to preserve the guitar's original charm and playability.

A Collector's Dream and a Player's Workhorse

Whether you're a vintage guitar collector or a player seeking a historically significant instrument, the 1981 Greco SE-500 Spacey Sound is a true Super Real-era gem. With its exceptional craftsmanship, vintage specs, and authentic tone, this guitar is a rare find that embodies the best of Japanese guitar-making history.
