Iconic Design and History

Inspired by the legendary Fuzz Face, the Smiley features a design reminiscent of the circular base of a mic stand, complete with two eyes made of knobs and a foot switch nose. This design became iconic thanks to American guitarist Jimi Hendrix adopting it as his weapon of choice upon arriving in London in 1966. With germanium transistors giving way to silicon devices by 1969, the Smiley faithfully recreates the aggressive bite and stability of the early silicon Fuzz Faces preferred by Hendrix and others.
