Guild Orpheum Slope-Shoulder 12-Fret Dreadnought with Hard Shell Case
The Guild Orpheum Dreadnought - A Masterpiece of Design and Craftsmanship by Ren Ferguson
Vintage Design Reimagined by Ren Ferguson
The Guild Orpheum Slope-Shoulder 12-Fret Dreadnought is a stunning blend of golden-era inspiration and modern innovation, brought to life under the visionary craftsmanship of Ren Ferguson, one of the most influential luthiers in acoustic guitar history. Designed and handcrafted in Guild's Custom Shop in New Hartford, Connecticut, this guitar represents a bold step forward in Guild's legacy while honoring its rich heritage.
Adirondack Spruce and Mahogany for Tonal Excellence
The Orpheum features a solid Adirondack red spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, delivering a full-bodied tone with a clear, articulate voice. The scalloped red spruce bracing, attached with hot hide glue, enhances the guitar's projection and resonance, providing a dynamic sound that's both warm and balanced. The slope-shoulder design and 12-fret neck joint contribute to a uniquely rich tonal character, ideal for both fingerstyle and flatpicking.
Comfortable and Elegant Neck Design
The two-piece mahogany neck with a walnut center strip offers a vintage-inspired soft-V profile, ensuring comfort for extended playing sessions. The 24 3/4" scale length and 12"-radius ebony fingerboard provide a smooth playing experience, while the 20 frets and bone nut enhance precision and tonal clarity. With a neck depth of 0.869" at the 1st fret and 0.953" at the 10th fret, this guitar strikes a perfect balance between substantial feel and easy playability.
Exquisite Details and Premium Features
Ren Ferguson's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect of this guitar. The pyramid-style ebony bridge with a compensated bone saddle and pins ensures optimal intonation and resonance. The Gotoh SE700 open-back tuners with cream buttons add a touch of vintage elegance, while the tortoiseshell pickguard and cream body binding enhance the guitar's understated aesthetic. A thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish completes the design, allowing the tonewoods to resonate freely and age gracefully.
